Organic and Natural Skin Care Recommendations
Update on my Skin Care Recommendations
Back in the early days of my pregnancy, I had a period of awful breakouts. It was especially hard keeping my pregnancy a secret when my close family and friends were asking me what was up with my skin. My brother commented that he has never seen my skin so look bad and my mom even suggested I go see a dermatologist! Anyway, before I had this zit attack, I recommended Dessert Essence Face Wash. Well, I completely take that back. I used it for a while and it ended up drying out my skin, causing me to produce more oil, causing me to break out even more. I blame it for making me breakout even worse in the first place!
I ended up finding a different regimen which cleared up my skin beautifully. Now I must put in the disclaimer that I do not know if it was the new products I was using that cleared up my skin or the fact the I entered my second trimester and my hormones calmed down. Regardless, I thought you might be interested in learning about what in the skin care world is working for me.
After getting so frustrated with my skin issues, I first got a facial. It not only cleared my pores but was super relaxing I made sure the esthetician used only their organic line of products and I reminded her 10 times that I was pregnant and not to use any harsh chemicals on my face (just as a side note, some women have more sensitive skin while pregnant, however, I did not experience any reactions or problems).
Next, I changed my cleanser and purchased Ilike Organic Mineral Exfoliating Wash. I’m not going to lie, it was on the pricey side (about $60 a bottle), however, I have had this for months and have barely even dented the bottle. You only need a little pea size amount and it will last you forever.
I just so happened to have an OBGYN appointment the next day and brought this facial wash with me to ensure it was safe to use during pregnancy. It does not contain any harsh chemicals or salicylic acid.
I also purchased an Skinmedica Ultra Sheer facial moisturizer. I wasn’t as thrilled to use this product because it does contain parabens but I only use a dab everyday and it is definitely doing the trick. I think any oil-free moisturizer will work just as well. Don’t avoid the moisturizer all together as you do not want your skin to get dry and produce more oil.
Lastly, my esthetician recommended I look into getting a Clarisonic. It’s kind of like an electric toothbrush, but for your face. It gets your face 6 times cleaner than just washing alone. These are a little on the pricey side and not a necessity but I do love mine! It is gentle enough to use morning and night and really gets rid of any extra grime lingering on your face at the end of the day. They also have fun colors
This routine did the trick for getting my skin back to normal. If you are experiencing pregnancy breakouts…let me know if this works for you!
