Organic snacks for Pregnancy Cravings
Do you have your man running out at all hours of the night for pickles and ice cream? It is hysterical to hear the things women crave during pregnancy. The funniest part is how random they are. I remember a friend of mine could die for peppermint patties all of the time during her pregnancy. For me, my biggest problem is that I can never figure out exactly what it is I feel like. I used to be so decisive about my meal. Now, nothing really does it for me. Figuring out where to go out to dinner is the worst. Every time my husband suggests a restaurant, I make a barf sound (My Husband: “How about Mexican tonight?” My Response: “Blahh!”)
I do, however, have two things in particular that I want all of the time and never get sick of…
1. Fried Calamari. When I tell my close friends and family this, they crack up. I have always typically been a very healthy eater. Always ordering a salad, no cheese, dressing on the side type of girl. I remember my husband feeding me our cake at our wedding and my aunt yelling in the background “You can’t eat that, its not sugar-free!” Needless to say, fried calamari isn’t the most low cal thing in the world. People are amazed to me indulge for once! Well, actually not once. More like once a week. I even have the left overs for breakfast in the morning…yummy.
2. Oranges. Something about the juiciness of an orange just makes my mouth water. This phase started with clementines but now those just don’t cut it. Yes, the oranges are more work to peel, but they’re worth it. I need a delicious, cold, juicy orange every night before bed. Mmmmm thinking about it makes me want to run to the fridge and grab one. When we were expecting a snow storm recently, I needed to make an emergency trip to the grocery store to stock up…not on milk or bread…but oranges. Some claim that if you crave ice-cream, you need calcium, If you crave meat, you need iron, and if you crave oranges, you need vitamin c. I don’t buy it. I think you just crave things that are yummy and delicious
